What it’s made of

How deals are checked

Every one of the 408 published deals is built by placing matching pairs in reverse, so it comes with a clearing order. Before publishing, that order is replayed twice: once through the game’s own rules (mahjong-core/2) and once by a separate checker. The browser replays it again before showing the board, and refuses a deal that fails.

Challenge labels (gentle, steady, deep) come from simulation: thirds of the twelve layouts ranked by the share of 60 random playouts per deal that clear the board without undo or shuffle.

How Connect deals are checked

Each of the 180 Mahjong Connect deals is made by clearing its board on blank tiles, one joinable pair at a time, then giving each pair a face, so it comes with a clearing order. Before publishing, that order is replayed twice: once through the Connect rules (mg-connect/1, a breadth-first path search) and once by a separate checker that tries every route of up to three straight parts. The browser replays it again before showing the board, and refuses a deal that fails. Connect challenge labels: thirds of the twelve boards ranked by the share of 24 random playouts per deal that clear the board without undo or shuffle.
