Courtyard
Swept stone, a lantern and a gate: four orderly boards to start with.
Pond
Lily pads, reeds and a bridge over still water.
Conservatory
Glass, ferns and shelves of orchids: the deepest stacks in the garden.
About Mahjong Garden
Pick two free tiles with the same face and they leave the board. A tile is free when nothing lies on it and its left or right side is open. Clear every tile to finish. Read the rules with pictures.
Is Mahjong Garden free?
Yes. Every layout, every deal and the daily walks are free to play, with undo and hints included. There is no account and no sign-up.
Is this the four-player game Mahjong?
No. This is Mahjong solitaire, the single-player game of matching free pairs of tiles until the board is clear. There is no betting, scoring against other players or four-player rules.
Can every board be cleared?
Every deal we publish comes with a clearing order that has been replayed through the game rules, so each starting board can be cleared. Your own choices can still lead to a position with no way out; Undo, Hint and Shuffle are there for that.
What is the daily walk?
Each day (at midnight UTC) there is a short board and a longer board, the same for everyone. Clearing either one on the day keeps your streak. Past walks stay in the archive and never change.
Which tiles match?
Identical tiles match. The four flowers all match each other, and the four seasons all match each other, even though their pictures differ.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Five layouts are narrow enough for big tiles on a phone, the wider ones have a zoom button, and a large-symbol tile set puts a big number or word on every tile.
